daydream- scene

man, woman, child go tubing on a broad sun drenched river; the child riding on the woman's lap. the 3ft tall child rests its head back on the womans chest in a comfortable affectionate fashion. its not clear if they are mother-daughter or if the man is related or applying to be related. there is a submerged snag in the river ahead, the woman paddles clear of the turbulance but still capsizes. in orienting herself under the water the woman sees the child silloheted above her in the clear green water. the woman pushes off of a large white skeletal branch toward the child, catches it under and arm and whip kicks her way to the surface where they both take big gasping breaths. the woman treads water with the child clinging to her side, looking for the man and the tubes. she sees both tubes down stream but no sign of the man. she and the child swim to the near bank and run back up river to where the snag lurks. the flutter of the submerged mans swim trunks and the light color of his abdomen draws the womans attention. she directs the child to sit and keep an eye on the submerged form runs further up the bank and wades back in to the flowing water with splashes about her strong thighs. as the water gets over her knees she lays out in the water and swims towards where the man was allowing the current to aid her. using the child as a land mark and triangulating between the branches poking above the river surface the woman pikes down opening her eyes under water. she sees the man bent in half around the upright trending branch of the skeletal snag, his limp body held in place by the push of the water rushing to the delta beyond. the woman grasps the man by the wrist and swims at a slight angle to the current dislodging him. she makes for the surface, gasps a breath of air and hand over hand reels the man in along his arm. looping her elbo under his arm, his back to her side she grasps, across his upper chest, his opposite shoulder. the mans head is buzzed or she would likely have tangled her fingers in his hair grasped him by the back of his head and swum in. as it is she cut an angle across the current to the bank where the child is waiting. the added weight of the man draws them further down th river then the child did but not too far for the child to walk. there is a flat bar along the base of the banks where the woman lays the man. she establishes an airway, gives him two breaths and checks his pulse. she finds a weak pulse and sends the child scampering up the bank to where the distant sound of cars can be intermittantly heard over the sounds of the river and various birds. the woman returns to rescue breathing and chest compressions, 15 and 2, 15 and 2. after what feeling like an eternity the man coughs, convulses and spews water out to his left. the woman who was knelt at his right sat back on her heels when the she felt the muscles tense. she pushes him up into recovery position as the child emerges at the top of the bank with an ambulance crew in tow. the child as the dark haired emt by his hand with his first out bag over his sholder, the curly haired emt has the back board tucked under his arm and is powering through the bramble behind them.
